SYSTEM SUMMARY: SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEM (Free Hot Water) & Performance Enhancement for the Mechanical Equipment (the A/C - COOLING & HEATING)
FIRE & ICE provides a SOLAR HOT WATER system & virtually doubles the performance of you AC system (reducing you electrical consumption by 30% to 50%) PLUS the system qualifies for the Federal ITC (Investment Tax Credit) of 30%. The consumer receives a Tax Credit valued at 30% of the total system cost (including installation).
SAVINGS: Cooling COSTS in Florida average 60% of your Utility bill & Electric Hot Water Heating is 15-18%. So then, if you offset the HOT WATER (15% on average) + reduce cooling costs by half (30%) = you have reduced your electrical consumption by 45%. This is a MONTHLY savings realized immediately & continued savings with an appreciable return (as we all know, electrical rates are only moving in one direction - increasing in cost).
OBJECTIVES: To utilize SOLAR technologies and a special proprietary unit of heat exchangers to provide 2 BENEFITS = FREE Hot Water + Increasing the AC system SEER performance (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) for a minimal investment (with a 3 year or less ROI).
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: The system has the versatility to be installed with existing equipment (AC system) OR be installed with new equipment (AC system). The FIRE & ICE is installed in a conventional manner, much the same as the standard HRU (Heat Recovery Unit) which has been in the market for 30+ years.
The added component is the Solar Panel, which has been in the market for 50+ years. In essence, the system is a "bolt on" enhancement. Similar to the aftermarket "computer chip" for your car, you GAIN More Horsepower & simultaneously Increase your Fuel Economy.
MILESTONES: While including the obvious benefits of FREE Hot Water, the AC SEER improvements achieve levels unattainable with traditional mechanical equipment. To retrofit existing mechanical systems (or install with new efficient equipment), results providing SEER improvements of the high 20's and into the 30 SEER range is quite significant. Especially when considering the current building code requires a system SEER of 13.
Recognizing the HIGH COST of the base equipment with higher SEER ratings (evidenced by quotes from 16, 18, 20 & 22 SEER systems), the FIRE & ICE system becomes the lowest cost option with the highest performance rating.

Solar Thermal Collector Panels
Utilizing solar energy
The working principle of a solar thermal heating system can be
easily explained. A collector receives the solar radiation, and as a
result heats up. This heat produced is channeled in the greatest
possible quantity to the refrigerant lines. No fuel or electricity is
used during this process, and so there are no CO2 emissions, thus
no environmental pollution.
Vacuum tubes
The creation of a vacuum by removing the air from a glass
container achieves excellent insulation, a principle which has
been known for a century now and applied in the form of the
thermos. By using this type of insulation, the collectors can improve
the conversion of solar energy even in between seasons and in the
winter. A special multi-layer metallic paint, made from recyclable
products, called CERMET, is applied to maximize the absorption of
solar energy. Inside the glass vacuum tube lies a copper pipe
formed into a U-shape with aluminum thermal conductors to
transfer the solar energy from the inside wall of the glass vacuum
tube to the copper refrigerant lines.

Solar Thermal Collector Panel Design
The panel consists of a copper inlet header where refrigerant
enters the panel travels down the U tube piping in the solar
collector heat transfer tubes to be heated and returned to the
discharge header and out to the condenser.
